Frank J. Mattei

Frank Mattei boasts an illustrious career spanning over 39 years at KPMG, highlighted by his role as Managing Partner of the Philadelphia business unit from 2015 to 2023. With a deep focus on M&A consulting and performance improvement for both public and closely held multinational corporations, Frank has dedicated the last 35 years to areas such as corporate restructuring, supply chain planning, and tax consulting services. His expertise led him to spearhead numerous significant M&A reorganization engagements for Fortune 500 companies within KPMG's Advisory practice over a 12-year period.
As the Managing Partner for KPMG's Philadelphia Hub, he oversaw the strategic management and operation of approximately 2,000 professionals across Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh, steering the firm's direction in operations, strategy, marketing, and culture. Frank's leadership prowess extends to his historic roles on KPMG's Global Chemicals Steering Committee and as the US Head of Industries – Tax, among other significant positions.
Beyond his professional achievements, Frank's commitment to community engagement and leadership development is evident. He has served as an executive sponsor for the Philadelphia Women Corporate Directors Chapter, held board positions with the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the National Italian American Foundation, and the Philadelphia American Cancer Society CEO’s Against Cancer Board, among others. His contributions to the community and his industry are further underscored by his involvement with Drexel University's Center for Corporate Governance and frequent speaking engagements at NACD Board educational events in Philadelphia.

Alan J. Kaplan is the Founder and CEO of Kaplan Partners, a retained executive search and board advisory firm headquartered in Philadelphia. Since the firm’s founding in 1994, Kaplan Partners has provided Boards and CEOs with advice on the dynamics of CEO and Board succession, and assistance with the identification, assessment and selection of new CEOs, Directors and senior executives. The firm’s Board Advisory Services assist clients with Director Succession, Performance, Diversity and Recruitment. Kaplan Partners also conducts Executive Assessments of leadership teams to enhance succession planning and professional development efforts.
Alan is a leader in talent management and leadership succession across both the corporate and financial services sectors. He has over thirty years of talent assessment, succession management and executive search experience, and has successfully led over 100 CEO/Succession projects. He is certified in the use of both the Hogan© and Predictive Index© assessment tools. Alan serves on the board of Clarify, which supports financial resilience and economic equity, and the Board of Advisors of the Fischer-Sha in Center for Financial Services at Temple University’s Fox School of Business.
Alan holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Penn State and an MBA in Finance from Temple University. He is an NACD Certified Director and Board Leadership Fellow, and was the recipient of the 2022 AESC Award of Excellence for his contributions to the executive search industry.
